Dear Parents/Guardians,

I would like to extend a warm welcome to the Canadian International School- Amman. Lupita Nyong’o once cultivated the essence of what it means to be a life-long learner with the following quote: ‘It’s only when you risk failure that you discover things. When you play it safe, you’re not expressing the utmost of your human experience’. I trust this quote inspired you as much as it inspired me as I believe it encompasses the essence and authenticity of the Middle Years Programme and what it can offer to our children today and most importantly what is can offer towards their future endeavors.

At CIS, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a great opportunity for students to explore their curiosity and their creative potential. We highly encourage our students to build self confidence and self-advocacy, by allowing students to think critically and to adopt a conceptual approach to learning. The middle school experience aims to develop and strengthen student’s independent learning skills which enable them to discover their unique learning interests and goals.

We offer a five-year programme that is designed for students during a critical phase in their personal and intellectual development. CIS is a safe haven for our students with a friendly learning environment which enables them to reach their full potential. Our students at the MYP transition from children to confident and independent young adults who are prepared to endure the academic demands and rigor of the DP programme.

The CIS family is dedicated in offering a balanced educational program that meets the academic, social and emotional needs of our students in a nurturing and challenging environment. We strongly believe in an ‘open-door policy’ approach with transparent communication as I believe we share a unified passion and desire to see our children excel and transition to life-long learners. I wish our MYP students all the success in their exciting journey.

Kindest Regards,

Salaam Samara

MYP Coordinator

About the MYP Programme:

With the completion of the Personal Projects, the final stage of the MYP journey, the MYP programme wholly prepares students for the next transitional phase and equips them with the necessary skills and experiences for the demands of the Diploma Programme (DP).
